The new season is off to a strong start with the first episode of flagship ecchi anime, Dokyuu Hentai HxEros. Based on a shounen manga with the following premise:
Retto and Hoshino are childhood friends who drifted apart from each other. One day, they’re caught in a battle against a “Censor Bug” that feeds on human’s sexual energy to evolve. After successfully taking down the enemy, they join a group of heroes like them, using erotic power to fight off monsters.
To give you more of an idea of the kind of show this is, the tagline from the manga is that “heros are made of H and eros” – it’s all just a great excuse for its characters to get undressed and in lewd situations in the name of justice!
The anime seems to be off to a good start, with good production values, cute designs and, most importantly, it doesn’t skimp on the skimpiness! The fanservice from the manga is all brought to the screen, albeit with some Blu‐Ray teasing censorship.
This cute girl puts more than she bargained for on display when her bikini is cut free!
But the highlight came later in the episode when main girl, Hoshino loses all her clothing when they encounter a censor bug. This shot had some nice breast animation but it’ll a hundred times better with nipples!

Panties are one of the oldest staples of anime fanservice and seem hold a particular fascination for the Japanese. It’s a fascination I share!
Being just a light bit of cloth covering a girls’ most private places, panties hold a realm of lust and excitement within them that can stimulate the male imagination with a mere glance. Panties worn by lolis often have a thicker-looking fabric and a higher top which doesn’t account for any curves. They really accentuate loli bodies and their cute butts!

Lolicon emerged hand-in-hand with the rise of hentai in the late 70s and early 80s, and has had a controversial yet unyielding presence in anime and manga ever since.
It was the establishment of self-publishing – doujinshi – which resolved around the otaku culture event comiket that gave loli a platform. These self-published fanbooks skirted censorship laws and drew explicit pornography, often featuring anime or manga characters and styles.
A few artists gained popularity during this time, such as the well-known Hideo Azuma and the less-well-known but just as important Aki Uchiyama, and their works spurred what became known as the lolicon boom. This lolicon boom has been largely swept under the rug of history but remains a formative time in otaku culture.
To be clear, in its inception, lolicon was, thankfully, much more about the sexualisation of cute manga/anime characters than actual girls. It was about the appeal of perverting the innocent, cartoonish young girl characters. In a sense, it’s the erotic equivalent of moe.
Some of the most famous early lolicon heartthrobs were Minki Momo. and Clarice from Miyazaki’s Castle of Cagliostro. In fact, it’s thought that the term arose from a doujinshi series based around her.
The term lolicon had caught on in 1980, and it was a time when the term was openly discussed in anime magazines and otaku circles. The works of lolicon doujinshi artists became surprisingly popular, even breaking into the mainstream.
For example, Aki Uchiyama published a manga in a popular shounen mangazine called Andro-Trio, which, obstensibly a gag comedy, was almost exclusively about fetishizing lolita characters.
One of the first anime that could be considered ecchi, Maitchingu Machiko Sensei, aired in 1981 and included nudity and panty-shots of its elementary school students (although they weren’t the focus of the fanservice by any means).
Meanwhile, the first hentai anime, a series starting in 1984, was actually marketed as ‘Aki Uchiyama’s Lolita Anime’.
The lolicon boom died out quickly but had already left its mark, with younger girls frequently being the subject of sexualised fanservice in anime and manga – especially in those marketed towards otaku. It was also kept alive through the PC adult gaming industry, which was incredibly popular in the 90s and early 00s. Those games often featured a route of a lolita-type character for lolicon fans.
Well-known modern manga and anime that delved into lolicon include Kodomo no Jikan, Moetan, Nanoha and Prisma Illya.
While the token loli fanservice character has all but disappeared from anime with increasing exposure to and pressure from the west, franchises like Nanoha and Illya are keeping the lolicon fandom alive in the anime medium. In manga, which is far less susceptible to censorship, it continues strongly, with many new series coming along with loli fanservice, styles and themes.
What makes the perfect loli? While that question may be impossible to answer, here are some things that contribute to their appeal.
Randoseru
A uniquely Japanese tradition – the Randoseru! A very special kind of backpack that’s pretty much essential for any self-respective elementary school student! The classic red variety has become a symbol for lolis and a fetish unto itself!
Sukumizu
Most people go wild over bikinis but in the world of lolis there is one swimsuit to rule them all – the Sukumizu! A school uniform for the water, this one-piece is the perfect way to show off a cute loli! An important feature for the classic look is the name tag on the front.
Print Panties
Young girls like cute things right? So it stands to reason you’d want panties to reflect that! It’s a staple for lolis to be depicted in childish panties with a print of a cute character on them (usually a bear).
Bloomers
Back in the good ol’ days, Japanese PE uniforms went the extra mile to allow girls to move freely when exercise – using the bloomers design. Although they’ve since disappeared from reality, otaku and lolicon everywhere still pay homage to the revealing pants.

Anime is a medium of booms and flourishes, and it always has been. Whenever a pioneering series comes along and strikes success with a bold idea there’s a sudden rush of clones and copycats scrambling to mine the concept for all its worth. Then, inevitably, it gets done to death and people move on.
There can be no doubt we’re currently in the isekai boom, just heading in to the sunset phase if I had to pick it. Isekai translates to ‘other world’ and loosely means a story where a character finds themselves whisked away from their normal life (generally modern Japan) to some kind of fantasy land.
The greatest thing about the isekai genre is that it’s a blank slate – the rules and conventions of planet Earth simply don’t apply. You want magic? Sure! Sexy elves, no problem! This makes it the perfect canvas for shameless wish fulfillment. With a couple of lines of text you can just set-up your world to be harem-friendly, filled with sexy animal girls and rife with all manner of devious ideas (such as a race of people who look like children for lolicons).
Naturally, this leads to sexy slaves! There’s now countless light novels and manga out there that feature or revolve around cute girls as slaves, ranging from the serious to the comedy and of course, the ecchi. But the isekai take on slaves is just the latest and greatest – before then we had a number of anime in the ‘mysterious girlfriend’ genre in which an average joe in modern Japan suddenly finds himself the owner of a beautiful and subservient android girl.
Let’s explore this trope and the huge potential it has for fanservice!
I would say slaves come in all shapes and sizes but that’s not strictly true since they’re almost universally beautiful, well-proportioned females. Of course there is enough variety to please most male fantasies. The most common flavours of slave are:
Lolis: Younger girls are generally considered a bit of a niche market but can be highly valuable to the right buyer. Generally they don’t bring as much to the table in terms of fighting ability or skills but they have the great potential to be trained up into a lifelong partner.
Elves: being a noble race, elf slaves are especially sought after and considered not easy to come by. Generally prideful and stubborn they also prove to be more challenging for the inexperienced slave owner, but they more than make up for it by being valuable party members and passionate lovers.
Animal Girls: Generally dog or cat girls, these animal girls are usually considered demi-humans or similar and wind up as slaves as the result of widespread racism and discrimination toward them by the other races. As a result, they’re often cheaper, but as many stories have proven, can be amazing slaves, loyal companions and close friends.
Androids: Obviously most of these slaves are limited to isekai worlds where normal human morals don’t apply – but in modern Japan the only way a guy can get a slave is if they’re some kind of alien or android. By some absurd plot reasons, these androids end up forming a technologically-enforced contract with their average Japanese-high-school-dude master and wind up as a very special kind of high-powered girlfriend!
But the question you always need to ask yourself is, why is this girl a slave?There’s a story behind every case.
The one that generally leads to the most main character potential is a downtrodden and defeated member of a noble house or royalty whose family was crushed by war or dragged into disrepute. These tragic heroines have the most fighting spirit and are hardest to tame. Generally they only come around when the master can show that his goals are aligned, helping them get revenge.
Other times, usually the case for the younger characters and animal girls, they are the sad result of poverty, sold off by their family so they can survive or simply captured when a tiny village is raided.
In many cases, girls are enslaved by magic due to some miscalculation or unfortunate twist of events. Usually ditzes, they stuffed up a summoning ritual or were tricked into something.
If they can see a good master in someone, it’s been known for some girls to actually outright ask for it.
In a twist on the usual format, a recent light novel has actually had their isekai protagonist BECOME the slave!
Usually, slavery is not just a contractual deal but is enforced with magic. The magic will take the form of a crest put onto the slave or be embedded in the collar itself.
In How Not to Summon a Demon Lord it’s a ritual that actually manifests the collar. The collar represents the slave relationship and cannot be removed.
The result is that the master may give commands and the servant cannot refuse (either resulting in pain if they don’t do it, or they act without free will). Fortunately, most slave owners rarely need to active this function.
In some cases the magic supporting slave pacts is not some standard ritual or enchanted item but a special ability of the chosen few – sometimes referred to as slavemancers. This slavemancy grants the wielder the ability to place people under the will and brainwash them into being slaves.
In Himekishi ga Classmate, the MC is reborn into another world with this extremely rare power. And he’s not one to mess around with morality – getting straight to the point by using it to recruit into his own sex slave harem.
A bit if an interesting twist – his powers are amplified when the girls come into contact with his bodily fluids. He even uses this skill to ensnare a particularly challenging opponent by ejaculating on her.
There are many other cases when it’s not referred to as slavemancy but it’s general brainwashing. Kronos from Saikyou Doreishou no Rakuin Majutsu to Bishoujo to Shi uses such an ability to good effect by making a career out of it as a renowned slave merchant.
It’s very rare for slavery to not include mind control or magic pacts, and relying purely on the loyalty and good behavior of the slaves. One series that does so is Isekai Elf no Dorei-chan, in which the MC owns two elf slaves who both treat it like a career, fulfilling their role with dedication!
In primitive societies, it can be simply a matter of claiming a captured beautiful girl as your property. While not technically a slave by any contractual or formal arrangement, it comes very close sometimes!
When the slave isn’t a real girl, there’s a whole different range of mechanics that make it work. Android girls for example are built by design to serve a master and will be programmatically loyal once a pact is made!
The most straightforward way to get a slave in a fantasy isekai is usually by buying one. In most of these worlds, slavery is not outlawed and so they can be legally purchased for gold or currency.
The classic way to buy a slave is to attend a slave auction, where the girls are displayed to a roomful of potential masters who vie to be the highest bidder. The best specimens – your beautiful elf or forlorn princesses can generally be picked up in this manner if you’ve got the cash.
There’s also the option of going to a slave merchant directly. In some worlds, this is a scummy back-alley kind of trade, while in others it’s a respectable career.
The slave trader from shield hero keeps his merchandise in cages stacked to the roof and accosts people in the dark alleys for dodgy sales. This worked out well for Raphtalia but I’m sure many of his goods don’t experience the same fate
Shield Hero’s slave trader is one of the worse ones, while one of the best has to be the madam from How Not to Summon a Demon Lord.
She runs a store that focuses on the trade of sexy girls and they also seem relatively happy and healthy. She also knows how to advertise them.
In Skill Taker, the slave trading business seems to be better established, with brick-and-mortar stores. Here, Yuuto simply goes to the store and puts in a winning bid of 700,000 on the store’s best female slave.
It’s a similar deal in Isekai Meikyuu de Harem wo, where a reputable merchant company also sells slaves as part of their business portfolio. This particular merchant has an impressive sales technique, flaunting his beautiful female slaves and then talking his customers into buying the right one for then. This is a great example of the slave traders knowing full well why their female slaves are sought after, even going so far as to make sure they understand full well what they’re in for when they’re sold!
In Elf-chan no Dorei, there’s a general slave market with a range of establishments to buy from.
Some slave traders mistreat their slaves, doling out unnecessary punishment and humiliation. One example of this is from Tsugumomo, in which the evil madam relishes in sadistically whipping and sexually abusing her slaves.
Some jobs however are sexual in nature, such as putting on a lesbian sex show for an audience.
In A New Game from the Depths of Captivity! ~ Rising from Slavery with Just One’s Own Abilities ~, the slaves are all stored in a dark cell and malnourished, having to share meager scraps of old bread. Only the ones with a bit more value such as elves are afforded a sufficient diet.
The slaves were prisoners of war, similarly, slaves in isekai are usually from raids on villages.
In the manga Jinrouki Winvurga, the ruling civilisation conquers whole towns and has a thriving slave industry selling off all the spoils of war to a keen audience.
Interestingly, most MCs struggle with the question of how to deal with owning as slave. Here’s some of the options they end up exploring..
In more mainstream isekai with respectable leading characters, their first instinct upon encountering or even inheriting a beautiful slave is to try and grant them freedom. In some cases, this is as easy as them choosing to renounce the pact.
For the sake of the story, this usually results in the girl falling for the MC and becoming a romantic interest. In a particularly amazing gesture of loyalty, Raphtalia from Shield Hero goes a step further after being released from her slave pact with Naofumi: she actually has it redone, offering herself up as a slave.
In other cases, it proves to be a difficult task, ensuring that the girls remain bound to slavehood even as the MC takes the right moral stance. The collars in How Not to Summon a Demon Lord are notoriously hard to remove, even with Diablo’s overwhelming magical power.
The most common job for an isekai MC is that of adventurer, and it’s a job that generally requires a strong party to support you in battle. This makes slaves an ideal way to quickly gain some numbers. That’s exactly the logic that Naofumi applies to buying and training up Raphtalia. Having been scorned by a prior party member Naofumi has understandable trust issues and he realises that a slave, being unable to disobey him is a good way to form a party without the risk of betrayal.
Another slave-cum-party member can be found in Slave Harem in the Labyrinth of the Other World. In this world, buying slaves is a common way of filling out a party. As the slave trader explains, the main benefit is that there’s no dividing or squabbling over loot – all gold and treasure belongs to the master!
How not to Summon a Demon Lord and Death March are also examples of the adventurer slave archetype, with the MCs recruiting his slaves to fight alongside him as valued party members!
Some slaves are relegated to household duties. If the MC is a super overpowered solo kind guy he might instead opt to have a beautiful woman waiting at his home or base to come back to. These usually end up in maid outfits and often find themselves the target of lewd activities.
More unscrupulous MCs will recognise the potential of having a beautiful slave at their behest and engage them for an all manner of lewd activities.
At its most innocent this might simply be having the slave(s) dress up in revealing outfits or cosplay.
Or you could tease them with embarassing commands..
For some light intimacy, the slaves might be encouraged to join the MC for a bath to wash him down and share in some subtle skinship. It’s a great way to build intimacy with the slave and master and often leads to lewder encounters.
This slave owner from Isekai Elf no Dorei-chan goes a step further and actually uses his cute slaves as washing devices!
While most MCs maintain their ethical composure and don’t take advantage of the situation, some MCs won’t beat around the bush and will regularly call on their slaves for sexual gratification.
Fortunately, the slaves almost always end up enjoying thems;ves and/or falling in love with the protagonist anyway!
In Skill Taker, the MC is strangely abstinant (for fear of making one of them pregnant or something) so he instead gets his kicks by ravishing his slave girls with summoned tentacle monsters.
At the end of the day, there’s all kinds of master out there who will partake of their slaves in different ways.
For obvious reasons, this is obviously the real of villains, but there are cases where bad masters take advantage of their positions of power and abuse their slaves, sexually or otherwise.
This usually ends up bad for everyone with the slave harboring great motivations for vengeance, plotting against their captors. Revenge is sweet!
A much better thing to do is to go the path of the slave bride! Diablo from How Not to Summon a Demon Lord ends up proposing to the two frontrunners of his harem!
But there’s no need to stop at one slave, the natural next step is to start building up a collection. Some aim for just a couple to fill out a party, while others aim for a true mega harem!
This is actually harder than it sounds, logistically and in many ways..
It’s all well and good to have an army of beauties at your command but things get complicated quickly when there are affections involved. The ideal scenario is for the girls to all get along as friends but also have a healthy competition in going for the MC’s romantic affection and a fair share of sexual activity.
Even with only two main girls in his harem, Diablo had to deal with some pretty strong jealous from Rem when he got married to Shera and spent an uneventful night with her. He eventually could only placate her by marrying her as well. This kind of jealousy can simmer below the surface and cause undue friction.
A well-fostered harem will mean the girls help out with the fun.
Ideally, the girls when left to their own devices will have close bonds of skinship or even practice sexually with each other.
Rem and Shera have an inpromptue ero session together while Diablo “sleeps” next to them.
The MC of this light novel and manga franchise has no qualms with isekai slavery and sets out to form a giant harem of beautiful girls! This series is a trashy but very enjoyable isekai ecchi adventuring romp.
Reborn into another world as a dungeon master, through his wits and modern comprehension, the MC cunningly manages his dungeon and picks up a loli-dog-girl slave along the way! She’s so cute and loyal that she ends up being more of a pet..
A twist on the format, this guy is recincarnated AS a slave. He wakes up in a dark room surrounded by children no older than 10 in collars – a cell of despair of those waiting to be sold. He realises he is no older than 8 himself.
He craftily talkes his way out of this dire situation and somehow winds up being a slave trader himself, only with a moral angle – only selling slaves to owners where the’re a mutual agreement and with a protection pact against abuse.
Probably the most popular and recognisable franchise to feature bishoujo slaves front-and-centre is How Not to Summon a Demon Lord, which has now expanded from the original light novel series to a popular manga and anime (season 2 soon!!). The protagonist wakes up in another world as his OP MMO character and end up with two beautiful slaves when their summoning ritual backfires. This MC is a fairly chaste and honourable individual so he doesn’t relish the idea of lording over sexy slaves, instead promising to free them. However that proves difficult and they soon become loyal companions and fall fiercely in love with him anyway. Along the journey, more girls join the harem as slaves or otherwise.
This comedy light novel and manga is probably the best for the MC living the sex slave dream. As the owner of two cute young slaves – an elf and an animal girl for a good mix, the arrangement is clear – they are to entertain his every sexual whim.
