Gu-Gu Ganmo is a 1984 anime adaptation of a shounen manga published in Weekly Sounen Sunday. Fairly typical of the 80s, it’s a light-hearted gag comedy, featuring many elements from silly antics, to young love interests and even a little bit of fanservice! Admittedly, the fanservice is very innocent, used for laughs rather than played up for sexiness. On the plus side, it’s surprisingly liberal with nudity for a shounen series!
One other big plus for this show is that the designs and animation quality were really great – the girls are super sweet!
The series follows in the footsteps of manga such as Doraemon and Obake no Q-Taro in that the alien Ganmo (who resembles a chicken wearing sneakers) sets out to help his adopted human friend Hanpeita. The series follows the antics of the duo as they find themselves in the middle of much comedic mischief.
The first fanservice comes from the teacher, who kept ending up with he pants pulled down, to reveal the white goodness beneath!
On closer inspection she’s actually wearing panties with a print of a koala on them, how embarassing!
The boys walk in on the girls getting changed – giving us a surprise topless loli!
A unique collaboration between studios SHAFT and GAINAX, Kono Minikuku mo Utsukushii Sekai (This Ugly Yet Beautiful World) was GAINAX’s 20th anniversary work, yet is fairly unknown in the anime community today. That’s probably because it was a fairly standard, forgettable story typical of the era.
Nevertheless, the studios both bought a certain visual flair and a willingness to animate otaku-pandering fanservice, making it a winner in my book!
Premise:
High school student Takeru Takemoto works part time as a (motor)bike courier. During one of his deliveries, he saw a mysterious light passing him and fell into a forest. What he had found was a beautiful girl coming out from a glowing cocoon, calling herself “Hikari.” While Takeru was quite embarrassed because of Hikari’s nudity, a strange monster suddenly showed up and immediately attacked the two. Both Takeru and Hikari demonstrated the power of their other selves before Takeru had a clue of what’s going on.

The entrance scene for any mysterious girlfriend character is always important, and this one is certainly memorable. She floats down from the sky, cast in a warm magical light, start naked and bearing a pair of utterly perfect breasts.
Smash Hit, aka Top wo Nerae is one of those classic ecchi anime from illustrious producers Masters of Entertainment (M.O.E). Along with Cosprayers and Love Love, it’s an alternate setting of the same basic story:
A film production company works on a new ‘hero’ movie, starring a group of sexy heroines. Cosprayers is the final product, Love Love follows the main cast behind the scenes, and this series follows the production crew – in particular the cute and childish producer Mitsuki Ikuta.
These three series were a shining beacon of fanservice excellence in 2004, and this one on particular has an edge in its cute female lead and her loli-ish appeal. Her petite figure and habit of wearing childish underwear makes her great lolicon bait!

Mitsuki interacts with the main cast of the production as well, who help bring out her sex appeal!
As someone partial to the allure of lolis, I feel it’s important that this blog covers all the great lolicon manga out there. So I had to turn the spotlight onto perhaps the most prominent franchise in this arena that’s currently running: Loli no Himo!
Originally a light novel series written by Akatsuki Yuki , it tells the story of a young mangaka who winds up living off a super rich benefactor, who happens to be a super cute young girl!
Official synopsis:
I, Tendou Haru, who was somehow aiming for becoming a mangaka, became a winner in life. Super rich bishoujo elementary school student, Nijou Touka was a big fan of mine, on top of that, she said that she is going to be my patron. Just like that, my ideal living off someone lifestyle had started.
It’s still going and there are three volumes released so far.
More importantly, the art is being done by none other than Henreader, who, as any good pervert will tell you, is one of the biggest names in loli hentai out there. Of course, these novels are far from explicit – this is a comedy after all – but even the light fanservice is dripping with sexiness thanks to his masterful art!

Touka (long dark hair) is the main girl and a rich oujou-sama. Her character is cute and innocent and she’s my personal favourite of the bunch!
Red-haired Chizuru who has a slightly feistier streak
Sana, with the short light hair is slightly odd and devious!
The novel was successful enough to result in a manga version being released. In a rare move, the manga artist is none other than Henreader himself (his experience in H-manga means he’s suited to both novel illustrations and manga!
Being fully illustrated means there is even more opportunity to admire these stunning lolis, and there are plenty of fanservice situations covered, often under the pretense of the author MC needing reference for his art.

Later on, different varieties of swimsuits (including a sukumizu thanks to Sana) make a return in the typical beach outing!
This turns into a more unusual escapade when Haru’s editor, Yuri finds herself erotically body massaged by the three girls until she succumbs to the wonders of loli!
Later on, Touka is dressed in an inspired bikini lingerie outfit and actually gets to touch her, prompting a lewd reaction!! Might be getting dangerous here!!
Naturally sometimes characters’ imaginations run a bit wild, and we get some very *ahem* ‘interesting’ visuals. Disclaimer: these events did not occur!
Lolis need to get changed and Henreader knows his audience wants to see as much of it as he can get away with!

Thanks to Henreaders involvement, the merchandise and promotional material for Loli no Himo has been nothing short of nosebleed-inducing. Next time I’m in Japan I’ll be trying to track down some of this without a doubt!
Recently, they did a collaboration with the other big lolicon ecchi manga out there right now, Joshi Shougakusei Hajimemashita P! (which I’ll have to write about sometime!)
While there’s plenty of lewdness in this manga, I appreciate that it’s not crass and Henreaders passion for cute lolis really shines through! This is clearly a work of love and it shows.
In 2042, alien threats known as the Mimetic beasts (擬態獣, gitaijū) laid waste to Japan. During a final battle against the Mimetic beasts, Goh Saruwatari defeats the alien “boss” and saves his future fiancé, Anna Aoi, with his robot, the Dannar.[7]
Now, on their wedding day, the Mimetic beasts emerge after five years of tranquility. Goh and Dannar are called to action, forcing Goh to leave Anna at the altar.
As Goh struggles in his battle against the Mimetic beast, Anna stumbles upon a sealed robot known as “Neo Okusaer”. She is able to activate and pilot the Neo Okusaer to save her “husband” by merging it with the Dannar to activate the Godannar’s Twin Drive.
Like many of the late-night anime of this era, the promotional and DVD artwork was not shy in using sex appeal to sell the show, with the girls in skimpy clothes and gravure poses!
The series itself certainly knows how to flaunt its lovely ladies, but isn’t as ecchi as it seems to have a reputation for. In fact, it’s not as trashy as it appears and is an entertaining show of a decent quality!
One thing it does nail is the breast jiggle, certainly giving GAINAX a run for its money!
The show’s top-grade boobs are shown off right away in the first episode of season 2, bouncing alluringly.
Panty-shots are thankfully also included in Godanner, although they’yre the simply, fleeting type!

Hiro Mashima’s successor to Fairy Tail, Eden’s Zero got an anime announced! The sci-fi themed manga contains plenty of sexy girls and fanservice!
Yumeria is a harem romantic-comedy which combines many of the staple genres for a full-course offering. MC wakes up to find a mysterious cute girl in his bed and has the ability to give her magical energy to fight as a magical girl, and this eventually expands to a fill suite of girls. It’s generic moe-otaku bait released as part of a mix-media franchise including a manga and a playstation game. I can’t attest to its storytelling prowess but the girls are cite and the art quality is sufficient so there’s plenty of fanservice to enjoy!
Premise:
Tomokazu Mikuri, the main character in the game and anime, turns 16 years old and has led a dull life without girls. On the night of his birthday, he dreams of a strange world in which he sees a young girl in a blue outfit fighting against an unknown enemy. Tomokazu has a strange, unknown power which seems to “power up” this girl, who has fallen into his arms. She uses this “power” to repel enemies, the alien race known as the Feydooms, who are attempting to break through the dream world and take over the real world.
Waking up, Tomokazu is amazed at his dream’s realism, thinking of his strange power and the mysterious girl who fought off her enemies. Rolling over, he is shocked to see the girl from his dream, Mone, in bed next to him. Soon Tomokazu, his classmate Mizuki Agatsuma, Mone, Neneko, Nanase, and her sister Kuyou enter the dream world Moera to destroy the Feydooms and save the world.
Before I dive into the anime, I gotta point out that the game looked pretty ahead of its time for sexy 3DCG anime girls!

Love Love features characters and some plot elements with two of their other series, CosPrayers and Hit wo Nerae. As with all m.o.e series, it features gratuitous nudity, panty-shots and fetishistic elements aimed at moe-loving otaku!

Another pretty typical ‘Spring 2020’ week this week, in the sense that there’s a good dose of fanservice from Tsugumomo, a healthy display of underwear from Gleipnir and not a lot else. Since its mid-month and perhaps due to the coronavirus effects, manga and light novel volume releases are also pretty slow.
To fill the void I’ve picked another year to go back to and do a deep dive of ecchi/fanservice, going through all the anime and making an epic annual review post. This time I’ve gone back further to the nostalgic days of 2004! So look forward to lots of content there!
